April and May
The hills in flower
The hills are green and the air reaches 20 to 24 °C. The sea is still cool, 16 to 19 °C. In Orthodox Easter week, Greek families arrive by car.
June
Our favourite month
Eleven hours of sunshine a day and the sea at 22 °C. You can still get a table at the tavernas without booking. Greek schools don’t break up until mid-June.
July and August
High summer
The sea warms up to 26 °C, the air to 31 °C in the afternoon. The coast is full. Around 15 August the whole of Greece goes on holiday, and late August is the busiest time of the year.
September and October
Summer for those in the know
In September the sea is still 24 °C and the airport sees a fifth fewer passengers than in August. The last direct flights run in October, and the sea stays at 22 °C.
November to March
The village to itself
No more direct flights to Aktion, many tavernas closed, days between 13 and 18 °C, and rain. Come to walk the trails, or to do nothing at all. At this time of year you travel via Athens.
