The village
Until 1928, Palairos was called Zaverda.
A fishing harbour with a marina. On the quay, the tavernas serve bourdeto, a spicy fish stew. Behind the village, the Acarnanian mountains rise to 1,589 metres. In front, Lefkada and its islands.

When to go
July and August are full. June and September give you a little more room.
We went through the passenger figures for Aktion airport, month by month. In September the sea is still at 24 °C and the airport handles a fifth fewer passengers than in August. Pick your dates on the calendar and it tells you what to expect.

Aktion airport, at Preveza, has direct flights from much of Europe between May and October. From there it’s half an hour by road. From Belgium you go via Corfu or with a change of plane, and from the United States via Athens.
